The hotel blocks a portion of your credit card balance to ensure that booking cancellation/no-show fees can be charged (if applicable).
Please note that when the amount is blocked, it is not charged: the amount is frozen and cannot be used, but it is not credited to the hotel; it remains in your account.
This can be confusing as when funds are blocked on their credit card, the same SMS notifications are used by the issuing companies as when the credit card is actually charged. To inquire about the balance of your credit card, please contact the customer service team of your card provider.
